While Israel’s Operation Protective Edge to stop Hamas goes in and out of ceasefire, a Turkish “Freedom Flotilla” is being organized in Turkey to bring aid to the Gaza strip which will be protected by the Turkish military. The “Freedom Flotilla II” is being organized by the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), which is the same organization that was behind the Mavi Marmara flotilla in May 2010 when Israel Navy commandos boarded the ship and killed nine of the flotilla’s members. The activists are going to probably set sail as soon as they receive the permit they need from authorities in Ankara and assurance that the Turkish military would provide protection. While Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan seems to be supporting humanitarian assistance, he is being accused of standing by Hamas. Read more at JPost.
