Amal Alamuddin, the British Lebanese lawyer and fiancee of actor George Clooney, is going to be part of the UN commission of inquiry into the human rights violations and war crimes of Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The London-based international lawyer and former legal adviser to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, will serve with Doudou Diene of Senegal and William Schabas of Canada. Ambassador Baudelaire Ndong Ella of Gabon, the president of the 47-nation UN Human Rights Council, announced the appointment. The team is going to investigate all the violations of humanitarian law and international human rights law in the context of the military operations since June 2014.
