Reggie Bush, the Detroit Lions running back, posted a photo of Palestinian journalist Hamde Abu Rahma on his Instagram a few days ago. Rahme held a sign that said, “The Palestinian people know what mean to be shot while unarmed because of your ethnicity #Ferguson #Justice.”
No matter who you are, what color skin you have, where you live, we are all in this together! this isn’t a Ferguson problem it’s a Global Problem! We need change NOW! What happened to humanity? #JusticeForMikeBrown
Abe Foxman then issued a press release that basically told Reggie to stick to football. Abu Rahma is an activist from Bil’in, the same town as Iyad Burnat, the activist whose brother was the Oscar-nominated director of 5 Broken Cameras and whom sat with Ramel Media for an interview. The thing is that Foxman might not understand that Abu Rahma’s cousin Bassam was murdered and his other cousin, Jawaher, died of asphyxiation from tear gas. Reggie, however, seems to make the nuanced connection–which is appreciated. Get more info at Mondoweiss.
